Sandycove lies on the southern side of Dublin Bay, beside the famous Forty Foot bathing place. Sea swimming has been part of life here for generations, making it one of the city’s best known coastal locations.
The area is closely associated with James Joyce, who chose the nearby Martello Tower as the opening setting for Ulysses. The bay, promenade, and surrounding coastline have long attracted swimmers, walkers, and visitors throughout the year.
