Phil Lynott was the lead vocalist and bassist of Thin Lizzy, one of Ireland’s most influential rock bands. Born in 1949, he became known for his role in shaping the band’s sound and identity throughout the 1970s and early 1980s.
He wrote and co wrote many of band’s most recognised songs, including Whiskey in the Jar, The Boys Are Back in Town, and Dancing in the Moonlight. His work played a major part in bringing Irish rock music to an international audience.
Phil also released solo material and collaborated with a number of musicians across different projects. He remains an important figure in Irish music history and is widely regarded as a key influence on later generations of Irish and international rock artists.
