Known as the “Velvet Strand,” is a stunning five-mile stretch of golden sands north of Dublin. Named after Saint Marnock, a 5th-century monk, it offers views of Dublin Bay, Howth Head, and the Dublin Mountains.
In 1930, it made aviation history when the “Southern Cross” departed from its sands on the first east-to-west transatlantic flight to Newfoundland. A plaque now marks this historic event.
Today, the beach is a popular spot for swimming, windsurfing, and scenic walks, blending natural beauty with a rich cultural past.
