The Hairy Lemon is one of the city’s best known traditional pubs, located just off St Stephen’s Green. Opened in the 1970s, it takes its unusual name from the nickname of a local bicycle mechanic whose workshop once stood nearby.
The pub became widely recognised after appearing in the 1991 film The Commitments, helping to introduce it to visitors from around the world. Its distinctive exterior and collection of vintage memorabilia have made it a familiar landmark in the city centre.
Today, it continues to welcome locals and visitors looking for a traditional pub. Its connection with the city’s cultural history and film heritage has helped make it one of the capital’s most recognisable public houses.
